This is our only group tour — every other Mala Mara experience is fully private. We run this route because the Blue Cave, Green Cave, and Sunj Beach on Lopud combine into a half-day that consistently delivers, and offering it as a group tour means more people can experience it at an accessible price point.
The Blue Grotto is intimate, not vast. That’s what makes it work. Sunlight enters through an underwater fissure in the limestone and refracts off the white seabed, filling the chamber with this luminous aquamarine that shifts with the hour. Before noon the blue runs electric, almost violet at the edges. By mid-afternoon it softens — warmer, more teal, like light through bottle glass. I’ve watched hundreds of people try to photograph it. The phone never gets it right. Your eyes will.
After the Blue Cave, we head to the Green Cave — a different light phenomenon, where sunlight filtering through an overhead opening paints the water in vivid emerald tones. You get around 30 minutes here to swim and explore.
The final stop is Sunj Beach on the island of Lopud — a long, sandy crescent with shallow turquoise water. You get around an hour and 45 minutes of free time here to swim, sunbathe, grab a bite at one of the beachside spots, or simply relax. It’s the kind of beach that makes people rethink their afternoon plans.
A 4-hour group tour covering the most spectacular natural sights accessible from Dubrovnik by boat. You’ll visit the Blue Cave, the Green Cave, and spend around 1 hour 45 minutes on Sunj Beach on Lopud Island. Up to 12 guests per departure. The pace is relaxed — there’s time to properly experience each stop without rushing.

The moment the boat slipped into the grotto and the water started glowing blue — I actually gasped. Our skipper just smiled like he sees that reaction every day. Which apparently he does. The swimming stop afterwards was brilliant too.
We only had a morning free before our flight so this was perfect. Twenty minutes from the port, inside the cave, swimming in a cove, and back before lunch. Kids are still talking about the blue water.
I was sceptical about a two-hour tour but it was genuinely one of the highlights of our trip. The grotto is small but the colour of the water inside is unreal. Our skipper found us a cove with nobody else around.
We brought our snorkeling gear and the visibility was incredible — maybe 20 metres. The cliff coastline south of the Old Town is much wilder than I expected. Good value for the price.
Our skipper adjusted the route because of a slight wind from the south and took us to a completely sheltered cove instead of the usual second stop. That kind of local knowledge is exactly why you book with people who actually live here.
The cave itself was impressive — the blue light bouncing off the limestone floor is something else. Gave 4 stars only because I wished we had more time for swimming, but that's on me for not booking the longer option.
Booked on WhatsApp the morning of and they had a slot for us at 13:00. The grotto in the early afternoon light was beautiful — our skipper said the blue shifts depending on the sun angle. He was right.
Four of us split the cost and it came out to about 60 euros each. For a private boat, a skipper, fuel, and snorkeling gear — that's incredibly reasonable. The cave was a bonus on top of the coastline views.
I've been to the Blue Cave on Bisevo years ago and this is a different experience but equally beautiful in its own way. More intimate, less crowded. We swam inside with masks and the visibility on the floor was extraordinary.
